The Sleeping Giant ski hill was established in 1936 in the Shoshone National Forest. As ski hills have turned into massive resorts or have been pushed out of business, the community of Cody, WY has made huge efforts to sustain this historic community ski hill. Now, the Piazza family hopes to see Sleeping Giant become the hub for outdoor recreation at the East gate of Yellowstone.
The heart of our community is the wildness that is the Big Horn Basin. Sleeping Giant is no different. It’s nestled in the Absaroka Mountains at the East entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The Shoshone River runs right through our front yard. Sleeping Giant not only attracts the outdoor adventurer for its summer and winter activities, but it’s also a wonderful place to sit back and enjoy the beauty that Sleeping Giant is nestled in.
Sleeping Giant has five ski lifts and 27 trails, with a maximum vertical drop of 1,200 feet. The resort also has a terrain park and offers night skiing. In the summer, the resort operates a scenic chairlift ride and has hiking and mountain biking trails. The resort is known for its friendly atmosphere and affordable prices. It is a popular destination for both local skiers and visitors to the Cody area.
New this season is a fleet of Sno-go bikes for another option.
